Default Pioneer AVH-X5500BHS Install

I am in the process of installing a Pioneer AVH-X5500BHS head unit. So far pretty straight forward. I am keeping factory Nav and will add a separate speaker and mute circuit for it. Also front and rear cameras.

When I removed the factory Bose I noticed that it had 4 connectors. I know 2 are power and speakers, 1 is for Nav, but I cannot find any info on the 4th connector. I have read it could be for CD changer which I don't have.

I have searched but can't find any info. Any one know what it's for ?

Funny, I'm using my IPad to post. For some reason it rotates the pics. They look ok in my camera roll.

Looking good. I was debating between the x5500 and x8500. Ended up getting the x8500 instead. Can't wait to get it.

Default Pioneer AVH-X5500BHS Install

Everything is installed and working properly but there is a problem with the Nav speaker.

I built the transistor/relay circuit with it's own speaker to mute the audio when the Nav voice comes on. It work properly but I noticed that the speaker is very warm to the touch. It's connected to L/B on + side and W/B on - side.

The Nav is turned off so no voice directions are active but speaker is still very warm.

Any help on why it's doing this would be greatly appreciated.

Pics of finished install.

Still don't know if it's normal to have constant 5 volts between L/B and W/B on the nav connector

I have a good 1/2 inch between screen and shifter when in park.

Did you have any trouble with getting the screen to tilt and open? I just finished installing mine and it does not want to open. Seems like it is getting caught on the bezzle.

It worked fine for me. I tested it before installing it. Maybe it is twisting a bit when you tightened it causing it to bind.

Did you end up getting it to work with the steering wheel controls? (if you have a Z with steering wheel controls...)

Default Avh-x5500bhs

Sorry for the PM questions canmark.

Just wondering if anyone else has installed the Pioneer AVH-X5500BHS and which install kit (DIN bezel) they used?

I like the one canmark used and I'm guessing by the pics that it's a Scosche brand? The metra bezel looks like the corners have a half-inch radius with a funky recessed edge.

Also, did anyone use the parking brake micro-bypass switch?

Thanks! -Suzi
